Why jewelers choose Shine Bimetal.

For more than two decades, Shine Bimetal has supplied a single product at a single standard: 18 karat gold alloy mechanically bonded to sterling silver, finished to a sheet that works the way you expect precious metal to work.

Our bi-metal is not plated, not filled, and not a coating. A layer of rich yellow 18k gold is pressure-bonded to sterling silver to create one continuous sheet with two distinct working surfaces — a permanent bond that holds up to engraving, scraping, folding, twisting, and reticulation.

Permanently bonded

18k gold fused to sterling under precise heat and pressure — the bond is mechanical, permanent, and will not delaminate at the bench.

— 02

Two working surfaces

Engrave, scrape, fold, or reticulate to reveal the sterling beneath the gold. One sheet, infinite finishing possibilities.

Hallmarked & traceable

Every sheet is hallmarked 1/20 18K/Stg GF. Composition, gauge, and specifications are documented on every order.

A technique with two centuries of history — perfected for the modern bench.

The mechanical bonding of precious metals traces back to Sheffield, England, in the 1740s, when silversmith Thomas Bolsover discovered that copper and silver could be permanently fused under heat and pressure. That discovery gave the world "gold filled" and "silver filled" sheet — materials that let fine metalwork reach a wider audience without sacrificing the working qualities of solid precious metal.

Shine Bimetal carries that tradition forward. Our 18k gold on sterling silver sheet is produced to the same mechanical-bond principle, with modern tolerances that meet the demands of today's jewelers.
